rumah manis rumah

Yeay! I have officially FINISHED my DIPLOMA!

*wootwoot*

After 3 years going back and forth to Melaka, I shall not have to drive long anymore!

:D

I can't believe it's already over. I will definitely miss my friends there and I already have a lunch date with my Rembian girls this Sunday.

I'm going to miss the food over at Melaka. The Asam Pedas, the Klebang Coconut Shake (will review that later), roti naan Pak Putra (drools) and Selera Kampung and lots more!

I will definitely make a day trip just for the food someday :D

But for now I will have my freedom, waking up late and just have nothing to do :D

Peace people!

8th Festival Filem & Video Pelajar Malaysia 2011

Before I head on with the post I would like to apologize for the lack of posts. I've been busy with the upcoming event *winkwink* and other stuff that kept on minggling around like I have no other work.

It's almost a week since I got back form Sintok, Kedah for Festival Filem & Video Pelajar Malaysia. To set the record straight, my group didn't win  but other nominees from my university did win the Best Documentary :D

My group and I consisting of 11 people (only 9 went though) traveled with 2 other groups nominated for the festival from Melaka to Kedah.

Other nominees are 'Waving Flag' and 'Melatah: The Documentary'.

We departed from our campus at 2 30pm and reached Sintok at arnd 12am. Oh mai GOD! It was an uber long journey! Everyone complained the bus was going too slow but when I think back it's good to be safe than to rush. So I just decided to endure the journey.

Thank God we had a couple of stops to empty our tank and fill in our stomach :D

I'm slightly held up with work now so let the pictures do the talking :p

This is Safuan (aka Safwang) our entertainer. His group didn't make it to the finals as something happened but we were glad he came along. He can make you crack a million times without stopping :D

Yours truly :D

Dhiya and Safwang telling us about some safety stuff stewards do in the airplane :p

This was breakfast time. Safwang looks uber cute with the ribbon :D

Final products of nominated productions. Spot ours ;)

Posters from different productions

This one definitely caught my eyes :D Seriously, it's a creative production to make something about toilet holes :p

Paper bag for the nominees :D

We were at Padang Besar on the second day of our trip. Padang Besar is at the border of Kedah and Thailand. We didn't bring our passport thought :(

Here we ate at the nearby stalls. The Somtam (papaya salad) is super awesome. OMG craving for it now :S

Pnut and Safwang. Don't they look really cute together with matching coloured t shirts? :D (cue: awwwwwwwwwww......) Haha!

The Xperia in the picture belongs to Afiq and the product in the photo is not sponsored by any brands mentioned. Cheh cheh, have to tell :p

Laksa Kuala Perlis. It tastes typical, and sorry to tell you it doesn't boast anything special. A good try though.

Anyways, I had Nasi Goreng Kampung! :D They didn't have enough ikan bilis though but it was nice and spicy just the way I like it to be :D

At night we head out to Jeti Kuala Perlis. The university did not provide us with any place to eat but thankfully they did provide us with the food.

All of us didn't want to go back to our rooms hence the trip to Kuala Perlis.

Ekin liked this picture so much so I put this up specially for her :D

Keep your eyes to the person with the brown baju melayu in the next two pictures ;)

Suke menyebok-nyebok orang lain punye gambar eh? :p

The third day the university did not provide us with any breakfast! I am still pissed at that since they were the host, they should be responsible for all things there.

Our accompanying lecturers decided to bring us out to the 'town'. They had a mall with karaoke and bowling. After our lunch we had an awesome time singing our hearts out before the nerve comes in for the night.

Safwang really sing his heart out! Look at the second picture :p

The award night. Our group with accompanying lecturers. Spot me!

The award is in this huge hall. See how many seats they have???

O.O

The emcees for red carpet. They are really small and short! I thought the VIPs are really tall but nay.

Take picture here, take picture there suddenly the hall was packed!

Shanaz. Why haven't I seen him before? O.o

Super handsome lor!

*drools*

From L - R: Adi Putra, Julia Zeigler, Irqam and Shanaz

Last group photo before the night ends and we head home the next day :)

All in all it was a fun trip. I need to comment on the management of the university that we had trouble finding where they put their food.

This is just a short post. I shall entertain you with more! :D

Craves

I am currently having my 'crave' phase. I see food on the internet and it makes me remind of some good food. This is bad since I need to get my weigh down a little bit.

:(

Okay, the trash lorry outside my house is destroying the nice smell from the kitchen (eeewwwww).

Anyways, these are the current food that I'm craving for (as of now).

1. Selera Kampung's Ikan Pari Asam Pedas

Oh my gawd! It is seriously the nicest asam pedas in Melaka and I am planning to go there tomorrow. The fish is fresh, the gravy is super nice and it's pedas! But to those who cannot stand the kepedasan, I'm sorry to tell you, you've just had a great lost in tasting the nicest asam pedas in Melaka ( and probably in the whole world).

2. Selera Kampung's Kerabu Mangga (Mango Salad)

This is the most important side dish that I eat with asam pedas. It is a little bit more pedas than other restaurants I've tasted but it's the perfect accompaniment.

3. Baklava

These baklava were from Bangsar Village II. I can't recall the name of the store but it's next to the chocolate shop. I've found other baklava and the nearest to me and the nicest is the one at Ampang Point.

An Arabian mak cik there sells dates, fig and raisins and of course these awesome baklavas. It is cheaper (RM 8 for 6 pieces, not too sure) but it is still one of my favourite.

4. Taman Melawati's Nasi Kerabu (at Pasar Tani/ Farmer's Market)

My mom who was the one responsible in introducing me to this wonderful breakfast dish. Yes, I eat this for breakfast. This is the second best nasi kerabu I've tasted so far. The best nasi kerabu is one made by my friend's mom (ohmoigodicouldeatthosenow) :D

I usually eat mine with the daging salai, keropok, telur masin and the vegetables.

5. Wondermilk's Cupcakes

I cannot tell you enough how I love and adore these cupcakes. Definitely the best cupcake (for me)! I could spend the whole day eating these and craving for more.

Talk about putting in all those fats huh?

Now let me have that piece of steamed moist chocolate cake ;)

Post - Holiday

I was too lazy to blog these past few weeks hence slow updates from me :p

Last year's holiday was okay I guess. I didn't do anything extraordinary and I didn't even go out to welcome 2011. Oh oh by the way,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It's not too late considering it's only the sixth day of the year, right? :p

Unlike most of my friends who went for holiday trips I spent my time learning to cook. Some of it were caramel, Spicy Beef Rice, Shrimp Chili Aglio Olio, and Spaghetti with Tomato and Blackpepper Hotdogs.

I still don't know the real reason why I wanted to cook in the past holiday but I think it came to me that I would someday be someone's wife and being a wife I would not want my family to have their meals outside everyday.

WOAH!

That's quite futuristic, no? O.O

Anyways, these meals were simple to prepare and cook plus as a beginner I would not want to try complicated dishes :)

 Shrimp Chili Aglio Olio

For Shrimp Chili Aglio Olio, I google-ed before hand to see how other people cook theirs. Aglio Olio as I found out were one of the simplest dish to cook and even simple enough for a man to cook ;) It's so versatile that you could do your own variation of Aglio Olio.

The basic indgredients you need to have is spaghetti (of course), garlic, parsley (the one with stalks), and extra virgin olive oil. The rest is up to you.

For me, I switched the chili to cili api to make it more spicy as I love spicy food. I did not have lemon so I took limau kasturi in exchange. I also added cajun and oregano just to add a little bit more spices and flavours.

This dish was inspired by a recipe I took from Australian Women's Weekly.

Spaghetti with Tomato and Blackpepper Hotdog

This dish was cooked just because I had some spaghetti left from the above's dish and I had to finish the tomato sauce I bought to make pizza.

Toss in extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and oregano and done! :D

As for the hotdogs, I like my hotdog to be boiled first and then tossed in while cooking the sauce.

Big Apple's Donashi

I've been wanting to try Big Apple's Donashi but never got the chance. So when holiday comes, it was the time for some testing :D

It was okay, I guess. I had flu so my bud was a little tasteless. It was so cute that I kept half of it in the fridge for the next day :p

That's all for now. I'll update more soon :)

Apam Bunga

Just a quick post, I'm heading out for a movie with little aunt and sister :)

I have found a new addiction O.O

It's apam bunga! There is a lot of names given to these little yummies but at the place where I bought it, it was called apam bunga.

I just bought it yesterday and being a big fan of these apam I bought ALL of them! xD Well just because there were only 10 of them and little sister wants it too.

The history of how I discovered this apam is just plain boring but anyways I first found these awesome apams at my high school. I seriously can't remember how I find interest in buying them but I did and it was seriously good I kept on buying them everyday!

I would feel so 'sayang' to eat them I would keep it in my bag and eat it slooooooooooooowwwwwlllyyyyyyyyyyyy at home. Seriously.

After I finished school I did not find any of these apams anywhere else until early of the year where I found a stall at a Bazaar Ramadhan in Malacca. Albeit it tastes more of the rose essence I kept on buying them.
The apam in Malacca
Few weeks ago Mama, little sister and I went out to buy some groceries and then we stopped by at the area where the apam was sold. Mama wanted to buy some putu bambu (which is super good too!) and I wandered around and that's how I found my addictive apam! :D

They didn't put anything to make me addicted to it right? :p

Mama had now found the recipe from some blog and is going to try and make them :D

They sell for 40 cents a piece and RM 2 for 5 :)

The store (more like stall) opens at 11am until 7pm* (depending on the availability of the kuihs sold). For more info you can check out their blog here :)

Narnia awaits me!

Hello December

Oh my gosh! It's December already?! O.O

Now time is going REALLY REALLY fast.

It is already the third week of my holiday and boy oh boy I think I have been enjoying too much food *gulps*

But it is soooooo mouth-watering how can I stand it? Look at these foods that welcomes me from my stressful days at university :D

WARNING! You will have a possibility of drooling over the pictures and will probably ask your mom to cook for it too or  you will try to cook it yourself but ended up being burnt and your last resort will be buying from some restaurant!

TEEHEE!

*dontsayididntwarnyou*

Masak Lemak Ketam!

The super soft rice with added soy sauce and the gravy  :D

I opted to have this with a crispy salad and fresh tomatoes with a little bit of tomato sauce (tomato on tomato :p).

The crab was super nice! I literally ate all the gravy on the crab and thank God Mama bought big crabs with lots of meat inside :D

My dinner on the the first day of holiday! :D

*om nom nom nom*

Mama also decided to be extra rajin to try new recipes when I started my holiday. Okay blame Mama too if I gain weight during the holidays -___-

This is one of the recipes she found in the internet. You see, Mama is suddenly fond of going to other people's blog just to find recipes she can try and I swear to you she has been comparing her production of food with my other aunts.

Okay. That what stay at home moms do when they are bored.

This is Brownies Kukus dengan Keju or Steamed Brownies with Cheese :D Inspired by Mama's friend when she brought us some of hers.

Mama's first attempt at the brownie!

The brownie was soft and spongy and the cheese did not taste super creamy (which I love). You can opt to choose creamier cheese but since I am not exactly fond of cheese, Mama decided to make it less cheesy.

Then comes Raya Korban and of course there will be food :D

Mama decided to cook Nasi Briyani with Ayam Briyani and Acar. A simple food for the family and does not take much time.

For the Acar, Mama mixed up vinegar, salt and sugar and we used pineapple, carrot, cucumber, red onions and red chillies for a hint of spiciness :D

Delicious Acar

Ayam Briyani :)

Nasi Briyani
It was really delicious that I had two servings of it for lunch and another serving for dinner! O.O

I am really going to gain weight!

Atok having his Nasi Briyani!
Ps: Would someone tell me why does blogger makes the pictures to turn out in weird sizes if it is not edited or if it's too big it'll just come out big? O.O It's a hassle and I do really like the old version. Easy and it compresses the photo without me having to edit it first.
