kil: a breath of new hope

I wasn't expecting anything great from this movie when I first heard of it. Frankly, I'm attracted to watch it mainly on the storyline and the projection of the story (and also Redza Minhat hehe).

There haven't been many Malay movies that has gone or stray away from stupid jokes, horror, lousy comedy or plot that involves parents (usually from the typical rich families) disapproving relationship between two characters.

But this. This is new. A new idea and fresh. And I like fresh ideas. I can definitely say it is in the list of one of my favourite movies. Considering I rarely look forward to Malay movies, I'm surprised this has pulled me like a magnet to watch it over and over again.

I didn't have the chance to catch it when it started playing in our local cinema so when I got to know the DVD was out, I asked around on my friends' opinion of the movie. Most of them said it's worth a watch.

Hmmm.....

So I bought the original DVD and watched it two times in two consecutive days. That's major for me.

I'm not going to bore you with the synopsis and all so you can go ahead and watch the trailer here to get a gist of what it is about.

Having said that, another reason that made me fall in love with the film is the cinematography. I love how each scene were shot stunningly and if you haven't seen the movie, try to notice the little details that connects with the timeline of the story.

Apart from some familiar faces of our local artists, KIL's music score composed by Saiful Ridzuan is impressively addictive. Below is the full music score from the movie.

One of the OST, Rapuh by Pesawat has been playing over and over again in my player ever since I watched the movie.

One more thing, the characters reminded me of 500 Days of Summer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The way they speak, the way they bring the characters to life. Even some of the elements in the movie reminded me of 500 DOS. Although it might just be a coincidence but a splendid coincidence.

Kudos to Redza Minhat and newcomer, Cristina Suzanne Stockstill for acting wonderfully to produce this movie.

I managed to watch the making of the movie and I know how it feels to have a production team that can communicate well to create this masterpiece. You should also buy the DVD if you want to know what I mean.

I'm now more hopeful to see new ideas from our local film industry while giving my full support and perhaps this is a sign of light at the end of the tunnel for our future in film-making.

I'm with the highest hope.

I found this while Googling Redza Minhat some stuff. Kena sangat dengan time-time nak raya ni.
