For breakfast, most of the time we would visit this one little North Indian restaurant in Taman Melawati called Thurkah. It has been around for ages and we only discovered it when I was in high school. Ever since the discovery, we would always opt to go there for breakfast.
It came to a realisation that I never posted anything about one of my favourite places last week when my mom and I were enjoying our breakfast. So this post is especially for my favourite breakfast spot :)
My very favourite dish or food that you can always see me order is the Paper Tosai. They have 2 sizes for you to choose, small and large. The small is already quite huge for me so undoubtedly I will opt for the small one.
My small Paper Tosai. Feels like eating one now -__- |
I once saw a customer ordered the big one and it was as long as the table! :O The small ones are already so filling for my tummy, let alone eating the big ones.
At Thurkah, you can also find all kinds of curry and their special ones are Crab Curry. One of my favourite dish that I would take along is the Chicken Varuval.
Funny story about how I found out the name of this dish. When you enter the restaurant, on your left would be an array of different dishes. So you would be tempted to savour your eyes before you proceed to find your place.
One chicken dish caught my eyes so I just said "I want that ayam please" then the server would take it for you and put it into a small plate. So I just took the chicken with me without knowing how it tasted like and just gamble for it.
It was so good that I put a mental note to have this chicken whenever I come. I asked the waiter what the chicken name was and he said "Warwal. I was like "Okay *thumbsup*".
The next time I came I told the waiter I wanted the Chicken Warwal,
Me: Nak Chicken Warwal satu.
Waiter: Haaa? *makesquizzicalface*
Me: Ayam Warwal dalam pinggan kecik? O.o
Waiter: Oh! Vwarvwal, vwarvwal.
Me: Ha! Ye, nak itu *whatdidhesaid???*
Dissatisfied with the answer, I googled for the name and found out it was actually Chicken VARUVAL.
*hugeassfacepalm*
Next time I went to Thurkah,
Me: One Chicken Varuval. Nak isi-isi.
Waiter: Okay *indianheadshakestyle*
Me: *igotthatright*
:p
The spicy and awesome Chicken Varuval! |
My mama on the other hand loves to order Tosai Telur. We once order Tosai Rawa Cheese and it was good too! But We would feel full and sleepy right after so we try to avoid it :p
Usually at Thurkah, they will serve you food on a banana leaf. Somehow on the day that we came they suddenly used the steel plate :/
Baru nak tunjuk how nice it is to eat on banana leaf. Cheh! :p
One specific reason that I like about Thurkah is because they will put the kuah-kuah on your table so you won't have to ask the waiter to bring some. They will provide you with dhal, sambal, chutney and some green looking kuah which according to my mom tasted a little bit minty.
But the curry on top of the tosai, is the fish curry! I love their fish curry. Full with spices and thick too! They will put one whole container for you to indulge and you can take as many as you like!
*yeayyyyy!* *clapclapclap*
And this is how I would eat my Paper Tosai with. Mix 'em all together babies.
1. Fish Curry (bottom)
2. Sambal (middle)
3. Chutney (top)
My kuah that I mix them up together :D |
Life is good with Thurkah. Yummsss!
If you want to try it, it's the shop at the second lorong after the lorong going to the post office. Err, I'm not good with addresses. All I know is I get there :p
