New Found Cousin!

Do you ever experience this one thing, the part where you just talked about that someone you haven’t see for such a long time but the next thing they’re on top of your door step (it doesn’t matter where they step but as long as they’re at your house)?

Well, it certainly happened to me.

You see, I was chatting with my friend, Joseph (or some people prefer to call him Zhong Xin) on Thursday night. We were talking about what to do after we get our results and stuff. He told me that he’s going to do A-levels and he’s going to Singapore to continue his studies.

I told him to say hello to my cousin when he’s there (even though he doesn’t know my cousin).

And the next day! Boom! My cousin CAME!

And no.

He’s NOT actually my NEW FOUND COUSIN. I just wrote that because we just got close after he came to my house all the way from Singapore- surprisingly- last week!

Oh yea, I forgot to introduce him to you, my readers. His name is Khidhir Akmal but people call him Akmal (but now, I only call him Mal).

He’s actually my second cousin. You see, my grandfather and his grandfather are brothers. So, that makes my mom and his dad first cousin. And finally that made him my second cousin. Get it? Lol!

Never mind that. Let’s get on. Well his birthday is surprisingly at the end of the year! Seriously! I mean his birthday is actually on the 31st of December!

Poor him. :(

But at least he gets to celebrate it with the people celebrating New Year! It’s more fun! Right?

Hehe..

Back to the part where he came to my house all of the sudden-thank God it’s not in the middle of the night!-with his parents which would make them my uncle and aunt.

My family (which excludes my grandpa) was having a very late breakfast – it was 12 pm and my sisters and I have not yet had our bath- when suddenly the door ball rang. We were wondering “who the hell came?”

When we looked through the glass, we saw a Hyundai car with a Singaporean number plate on it.

“Who are they?” Everybody was still thinking.

Then suddenly a pang hit me! It was my cousin that came to our house early this year!

I did miss them somehow. Lol!

I told my sisters and we jumped and ran upstairs to get ourselves bathed. Lol! It was hilarious at that time. We were running our way to get washed and all. Banging stuff off the floor and cleaning up our room.

But my sisters and I have this condition where when we bath; it’ll take us like a whole 20 minutes to bath. Not washing the hair. If we’re washing our hair then it’ll be like an hour or more.

So just imagine each of us using the bathroom with each spending 20 minutes in. Yup! It took us about an hour to get all set.

Akmal’s mother, our aunt also called (or shout at) us!

She was like this. “Oi! Anak dara! Buat ape kat atas tu? Turun la!” (translation: “Oi! What are you girls doing up there? Come down!”)

After all that chaos, Kak Noi and I went down first since Arfah was still in the bathroom, doing God knows what, and greet our uncle, aunt and Akmal. Akmal has a big brother(I call him Abang Mizi) but he wasn’t there cause he has to go through a two-year of National Service.

Oh yea, there was another second cousin but he was all quite and stuff. Will tell you later if I have the chance.

Akmal was about one year younger than me. But really, he’s a tall fella. WAY taller than me! Seriously I don’t know what he eats but he is TALL.

His brother? Don’t ever ask. Much, much, much taller!

Back to him. We chat with my aunt and uncle and Akmal. My uncle and aunt are hilarious! Seriously. They can make you laugh even though they just said like a couple of words.

But as Akmal and I agree at the end of the day, they just talk about crap.

Haha!

They had their lunch here at our house and since there isn’t any Nandos over at Singapore, we brought them to one after that.

Oh yea, forgot about that one little thing. After they had their lunch, we showed them our glorious rambutan tree. It was giving out fruits and so begins the plucking of the rambutans. Lol!

My aunt was the director and her ‘slaves’ are Akmal, my uncle and my other cousin.

She kept on telling them to pluck the ones high over the tree. Seriously. It was quite tall. Even with a ladder, they have to use the plucking thing.

Oh yea, there’s this one picture that I took when Akmal was on the tree. I only got his back.

At the end of the plucking-session, -they ended up bringing home one full basket of rambutans- we head off to JJ to take them to Nandos.

Akmal found out that Famous Amos here is halal, so my grandma bought him a packet of no-nut chocolate chip cookies. Since I was there, we took a chance of having one too. Hehe.

Bad Izzah!

Then we prepare our stomachs to eat the sultry, deliciously chicken at Nandos. I had my normal menu, ¼ chicken with 2 sidelines. Lol! Just can’ get enough of it.

To my surprise, Akmal took another dish and asked for it to be ‘Extra Hot’.

Seriously. I thought I was the one in the family that had the ‘hot tongue’ but he exceeded me!

Crazy guy leh!

After that amazing ‘dinner’, Akmal asked if there was a pastry that has kaya in it.

This is his exact word that I think I heard him saying.

“Ade tak bola yang ade kaya dalamnye? Macam bulat-bulat gitu.” (translation: “Is there any balls that had kaya in it? Sort of round looking like that.”)

I was like “Is it kaya balls?”

And we brought him to the booth like place that sells that stuff. He was delighted to get it. Haha!

And then we brought Akmal to Dunkin Donut for he loves donut. My aunt called him and his brother ‘the donut guys’. Really. They’re that kind of people that LOVES donuts.

They took back home a dozen donuts and my aunt went crazy by buying three packs of those little assorted donuts.

They say it’s not halal over there (Singapore).

I even prepared a list of foods that they can’t eat or don’t have over at Singapore.

- Starbucks

- Famous Amos

- Kenny Rogers

- Nandos

And the list goes on and on. I’m really glad that the foods in Malaysia are mostly halal and are available here so I can eat all that I can.

After some food shopping, we head to my other uncle house which is my uncle’s brother’s house. Get it? Haha!

We spent our time by chatting most of the time. Akmal and I took some pictures but all thanks to my 2.0MP phone camera, the picture was not that good.

Akmal and his parents went back to Singapore the next day. I really wish that I could go along with them but all thanks to my ‘dead’ passport, I couldn’t.

My mom told them that we may be coming over to Singapore after having my sisters and my passport renewed.

Mama! Renew it NOW!!

After that day, Akmal and I kept on contacting with each other.

I picked up few Singaporeans Malay words too!

Haha! :D

Ps: Arfah got what she wanted for her PMR results.

Pps: I’m currently over crazed by using the Singaporeans word that Akmal taught me. Lol!
